Carbon, Concrete

“Carbon, Concrete” was a year-long photographic project that explored
the paralinguistics of contemporary dress, queer fashion, and the revival
of subculture and counterculture present in modern day fashions.

“Carbon, Concrete,” was Brooks’ BFA thesis project, completed in his
final year of study at the College for Creative Studies in Detroit, Michigan.
This project was exhibited in Budapest, Hungary, Rochester, New York,
and was featured in Vogue Italia’s PhotoVogue four times.

This project was accompanied by a publication of the same name, which
Brooks produced from ages 18 to 21. “Carbon, Concrete” was purchased
by the Detroit Institute of Arts, and is available to view as part of the permanent
collection upon request from the research library.
